TALLOW SOAP
Tallow soap is very cleansing, with a creamy lather that leaves skin soft and conditioned. With the magical combination of being squeaky-clean and nourishing at the same time, tallow soap is gentle enough for sensitive skin and babies. Goat milk is soothing and moisturizing. The milk, which is fresh and unprocessed, comes from healthy, happy goats on our small farm. |
Tallow soaps yield a hard, long-lasting bar. The fat is sourced from local, humanely raised cattle and rendered into pure tallow suitable for baking and soap making. The old-fashioned method of making soap by hand with tallow gives a luxurious bar that retains all of the moisturizing glycerin from the soap-making process.
THE COLD PROCESS METHOD
The cold process method of making soap is the way our great-grandmothers made soap. Lye is mixed with distilled water or milk, then added to the soap-making oils. In the resulting chemical reaction, called saponification, the lye and oils combine to form soap. There is no lye left in the final soap.
For goat milk soap, the temperature is kept low so that the milk doesn't caramelize and turn brown.
The soap is cured for at least four weeks to produce a hard, long-lasting, and mild bar.
